This one is a textbook example of crappy/doesn't suck--even though there's every reason to expect it to.
On the surface, it's about a woman who marries a man whose body has been taken over by a space alien. The editing is lurchy and the acting pretty dismal. But it ends up being a metaphor for all kinds of things--suburban alienation, the unattainability of the American dream, sexual alienation between men and women. The fact that Tom Tryon, the actor/novelist (the guy who wrote one of my favorite crappy '70s tv movies Harvest Home actually!), plays the part of a young suburban husband but also appears stereotypically gay, adds a whole other dimension of alienation-otherness.
