Wow! This flick is absolutely craptastic - and I mean that in the best of ways. It stops just short of being a complete Grindhouse knock off but takes itself even less seriously. Picture equal parts Mad Max, Planet Terror, Escape from New York and Braveheart with a very bad ass Rhona Mitra in the vague role of Snake Pliskin. Also starring Bob Hoskin and Malcolm McDowell. Dont go looking for deep messages, consider the plot holes a delicious swiss cheese to snack on, write off the surreally bad car chase as a woman driver and enjoy the hell out it. Great fun!

Re: DOOMSDAY
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 11:38 PMSeconded.
I just got through seeing Doomsday tonite and fucking hell....
That was some good BBQ! lol
Plus, I love the dry sense of humor those boys have across the pond . The near obsession with dystopian future societies Brits have as this movie also has a touch of V for Vendetta (the comic, not the movie) along with the already mentioned movies Escape from New York/Mad Max and I kinda saw what Judge Dredd could have been in Neil Marshall's hands. Brilliant!
Back to the humor. The very definition of "irony" - locking away the sick and infirm behind a wall so that a generation later they become Ultra ASBO Super Neds. And that introduction scene for the leader of the Super Neds was priceless along with the soundtrack! God, I haven't heard Adam and the Ants' "Dog Eat Dog" as well as Fine Young Cannibals' "Good Thing" in ages. (what'd I say about dry humor, eh?)
All in all, a rollicking good action flick that pulls off its homages deftly along with being a turn off your brain and have some fun kick ass movie.
A++ on my so bad, its good meter! -

Fri, April 11, 2008 - 8:29 AMThanks, guys!
I've secretly been dying to see it, but no one around here seems to be as shallow as me...or at least, they don't admit it.
I'm there, baby.
