Oh my god, I just saw this and it was awful and amazing.
Clive Owen just runs around shooting people while inexplicably eating raw carrots and tossing off terrible one liners. And Paul Giamatti runs around being cheesey and silly.
You MUST see this. Why cut an umbilical cord when you can shoot through it?

Re: Shoot 'Em Up
Fri, February 29, 2008 - 3:52 PMone of my favorite movies of last year...i don't think that there will ever be a more action packed movie, because they just used action instead of a plot here...all style and noise, but VERY well executed...sure it's incredibly stupid, but it's also incredibly fun
how else could you possibly explain the sex scene gun fight? that's got to be a first
i thought that the anti-gun message was a bit heavy handed, but if you watch it as a sort of live-action cartoon, i think that you'll be able to ignore it, and just enjoy the ride -

Wed, March 5, 2008 - 1:00 PMI did really enjoy this movie. It was far beyond the sick & twisted, but very funny. The actor playing the villain was hilarious. -

Wed, August 20, 2008 - 8:54 PMAnother great recommendation, thanks!
I think that the anti gun message was supposed to be part of the general hilarity, given all the relentless non-stop gunfire. It gives a new meaning to over the top.

Tue, August 26, 2008 - 3:09 PMI love this movie and all of its cheese! You're right, it is action packed! Yeah, not very believable but that's the point and it's great.
Awesome movie!

Re: Shoot 'Em Up
Sun, November 30, 2008 - 3:46 AMThis movie is by far the best guns and girls film ever produced. Not only does it provide all the bang-bang, bounce-bounce required by the genre, it provides brilliantly veiled and scathing self-criticism every step of the way.
Clive Owen is a genius of an actor, and every role I've seen him in has been impressive, to say the least. His characters are uniformly appealing and admirable in their bravado.
Favorite scene: the "car chase" where Owen's character runs a Mercedes off the road because he doesn't like the way the driver is weaving in and out of traffic. "With porcupines, the pricks are on the outside."
